In many ways this is the most honest of all the rugs as you can still see the exact purpose of them. These were made in the Atlas mountains and their primary purpose is for warmth. I love the simplistic childlike designs as warmth was augmented by some desire for a decorative purpose as well. I also love the juxtaposition of using the simplest of design with the most sophisticated of textiles, such as cashmere. In many ways, a Berber cashmere can be the most satisfying rug of all.
